Operating since November 2013, “Department of Indo-European languages” was organized in 2001, on the basis of German-Roman languages. In 2001-2013 were conducted comparative-typological research between the Azerbaijani language and German-Roman. Department aims are to prepare comparative phonetics, grammar and lexicology of Azerbaijani language and those languages, to explore the grammatical structure of the Roman and German languages, to explore the grammatical structure of the Roman and German languages. From 2001 to 2005 led of the department was PhD Novruz Khanali Mammadov, from 2005-2013, led of the department was PhD Asadova Mahabbat.
Since the establishment of “Department of German-Roman languages” has been dealing typological comparative studies of world languages with Azerbaijani language. This department has prepared comparative phonetics of Azerbaijani language with English, French, German and Spanish languages, comparative morphology and syntax of Azerbaijani language with English, French and Spanish languages. At present, it is being prepared comparative vocabulary of Azerbaijan language, English, French and Italian. Since 2013 under the leadership of professor of “Department of Indo-European languages” Oruc Musayev major research direction is comparative study of Indo-European languages, phonetics, vocabulary and grammar with Azerbaijani language.
